Authoring Dynamic Sample Data – Google Web Designer

LUCAS: My name is Lucas and I’m an designer on Google Web Designer In this video I’ll show how to create dynamic ads Dynamic ads include content that is plucked from a data feed when the ad is served This allows the ad to be customized to the person viewing it I’m starting with a simple ad that contains two portraits and a headline and I’ll use the feed to setthe source for each epitome the headline verse and the headline shade I start bygoing to the Dynamic panel and in the Bindings tab I press this plus button I firstly have to tell Google Web Designer what subjects are in the feed This is alsocalled the feeds schema The define of schema that are available depends uponthe ad environment This ad is for Display& Video 360 which includes bothpredefined standard schemata and custom-made schemas that you can create utilizing Studio For now I’ll exert a standard schema I’m now ready to add bindings For each fixing I specify a component a quality on that ingredient and a subject in the feed that is providing a value for that asset I’ll start with the verse I espouse the verse aspect I select its content and then I appreciate a inventory of all the fields in the feed and I pick this one I’ll add another binding also to thetext element but this time I will mount its emblazon and then I’m ready to move onto the personas The feed contains a list of products and for each product there’sinformation like job descriptions and portrait URL and a price I want the image URL soI select this field and then I specify the indicator of the record I want to use I demand the first introduction so I leave the index at 0 It may appear surprising thatthe index of the first record is 0 instead of 1 but that’s just theconvention for this kind of data Finally I include a binding for the sourceof the second image once again I adopt the epitome URL but this time I increasethe index by a 1 to use the next entry in the listing Now I discover all my bindings inthe Bindings panel but it’s still not clear that it’sworked accurately because on theatre I just see the default document content to geta better preview know I switch to the Sample Data tab For every schema weprovide a define of default sample data that can be used for preview if I selectthat data I see it made on place This data is only for preview it is notsaved with the ad when it’s published and in a separate video we testify you howto build the real feeds that you use when your ad is served This defaultis only a starting point you probably want to customize the sample data for the ad you’re building and one route to do that is through this journalist Now for example I will provide different headline verse In this writer you can alsoadd entries to directories in such cases a brand-new product and you can delete or copyexisting records if I save my deepens I understand them on place I can also edit sampledata instantly on theatre for example now I’ll use the text tool to change the headline and I can also swap in different image assets If I switch backto the default document I see that it is unchanged You can use multiple data setswhen previewing your ad If you have a data set already somewhere in a register you can import that enter into Google Web Designer You can also create a new emptydata set and construct it up from scratch and finally you can copy and pasteexisting data sets which I’ll do now First I’ll rename it and then I’llselect repeat from the context menu and then I’ll swap in a different image I’ll do the same thing at this time Iwill change the color of the verse and I’ll too change the content You’ll notice that when I dedicate the modification the textbook is fit to its receptacle that’s because by default all fix verse has text fitting applied to it If you don’t want this behavior you can turn it off in the text panel So I nowhave an ad that has four bindings and three samples information and data and if I preview the ad in a browser I can see all the variations in oneplace If you’re building more than one ad that uses the same kind of data you may want to share sample data between these ads which you can do through oursample data library To contribute data to the library in the right-click menu chooseadd to library I’ll now open up another ad that has a different organize butuses the same kind of data So here is an ad that contains a simple animation In this sample data tab I’ll operation this button to open up the Library I see that sample data set that I had just imported and I can now lent it to this documentand use it here for preview I want to finish up by talking about a moreadvanced exert case where we apply a transformation to the feed data before it’s used now I have a swipe gallery and I wanted to show an image for eachproduct in the feed As customary I start by selecting a schema and then I choice theswipe hall and its idols dimension and now I want to get the portrait URL foreach product I start by selecting the Product register itself and then I go to theFilters tab in this editor this provides a specify of simple transformations that youcan apply to the feed data now I pick one called pluck and join which selectsa field from each entry in the schedule and joins them together exerting commas if I now look at the swipe gallery in the belonging examiner while I’m previewingsample data I can see that it has a list of all of these likeness and if Ipreview it in a browser I see that it duties like we expect You can apply morethan one filter to a binding for this binding for example let’s say that Iwant to show at most three epitomes I deepen that first filter so it truncatesthe directory if it has more than three introductions and then I contribute a brand-new filter thatonce again exercises pluck and assemble to this shortened list and if I preview itin the browser again it use as expected That concludes this tour ofauthoring dynamic data in Google Web Designer Thank you for watching
